Replacement Aux Radiator Fan Failed

96 Sport 4.0 Auto 4WD

About three years ago I installed a curved blade aux radiator fan. Sourced from one of the major on line parts houses IIRC. Now Kaput! Good power to it. Good connection. It will turn a bit. Kind of slow if I give it a push start. Turns freely, no noise.

Have not taken it out yet. Is there anything inside that can be cleaned and serviced, like brushes etc?

Or am I ahead by just getting another one?

Kind of ticked, because I believe it is marked "Platinum Series" or something like that.

get a new one. and by a Volkswagen sharan 2005(2000-2010) electric fan. it is 12 inches and pulls 2500cfm.

I use two of these. now my car can pull a 2 ton trailer in 25 degree celcius without a problem.

volkswagen sharan electric fan

300 watt
25 amp
2500 cfm.
12 inches. you need to build a new fan shroud. yes you can use the stock wiring too. can find these very cheap at the junkyard.20-30$

Much of the last few years I have run with the aux fan removed. Only installed it for the hot weather. I estimated that over speeds of 35 mph the fan is just in the way and probably blocking air flow.

Was very disappointed this replacement fan I installed failed.

I will search for the Sharon fan as you suggest. Is there a US model equivalent of that vehicle?

I bought one of these really really cheap aux fans on eBay and it has been fine for about 2 years now.
I use the air conditioning a lot so hopefully it will last. Has been underwater and probably has crap tons of mud in it but no weird noises yet

I unfortunately tossed my old fan but I am curious if they can be disassembled and cleaned out - almost certainly the brushes are worn out or possibly the bearing was gone in mine because it made a bad grinding noise when turning by hand

IIRC I got mine for even cheaper straight from china, but can't find any of those auctions at a glance

I think the us versjon of Volkswagen sharan is Ford Galaxy. they use the same electric fans.

Edit: not sure if there is a us versjon, after I did some research. you can find the electric fan on eBay. part number 7M3959455A
