Hello, i am on this website to find some help in diagnosing my problem. I have a 1995 xj 2wd that was stolen recently. I have since got it back. The thief broke the ignition lock cylinder out of the ignition switch and broke the housing. I had it towed out of the police impound and the tow guy started the car with a screw driver since the switch was still intact. So i replaced the ignition switch in order to have the housing for the cylinder, but not it cranks but wont start. The lights come on and everything but still no start. I replaced the starter less than a year ago so it is not that. What else could it be? Could i have messed up the installation of the ignition switch? thanks!

If you replaced the switch itself, it could be an improper install or wrong part. If you cut any wires to replace the switch you need to verify the wires are correctly wires back or you'll get all sorts of weird problems. Basically verify the install since you had a working switch and now you don't. You can seclude the problem area to the switch. (Assuming you didn't blow any fuses or burn wiring through shorting something)
