During warmup at idle, inconsistent but persistant misfire. Not present after driven to operating temperature.

New spark plugs within last 2K miles, not sure how old the rotor, distributer cap and plug wires are. Recent new fuel filter. Preheater hose intact. New 4-hole injectors on the way.

Most likely culprit?

I'm so cheap I wash my cap, rotor and wires like I would dishes. Dawn soap and a brush, dry well. Sounds like maybe your spark is going somewhere other than the plug gap now and then. At the least you might want to rule that out first. Sometimes in the dark you can see it. You may hear it also. (not inside the cap, of course)

Yeah, I felt like I answered my own question when I wrote that the cap, rotor and wires were of unknown age. I lightly sanded the cap and rotor contacts, but I'll just replace all that soon as a matter of course.

cap, rotor and wires are to be replaced every 30,000 miles with the plugs.

Try some Taylor 84248 wires. amazon.....
