removing NSS

I have a question for any one that has removed and or bypassed the neutral safety switch

will your tranny still hold down in 1-2 or 3rd gear if you shift it down manually

if I am reading the wiring right the NSS controls this function
so if the NSS is removed you cant hold you tranny down in lower gears without it

You'll get a CEL if you remove the NSS. There are plenty of write-ups on the web for how to mod your heep (95 & Down) to lock the tranny in first gear. No need to try and re-invent the wheel.

X2 the NSS can be bypassed with a simple switch but why when you can rebuild it for $5.

I have read a lot of that and understand it
what I am asking is if you remove the NSS completely
do you loose the ability to manually shift down

NO.

You'll be able shift manually into first gear but you're TCU will no longer recieve a range selector signal. This will also throw a CEL.

Probably right I was thinking Renix which has no CEL.

on renix it won't matter. H.O. it will throw a CEL.

don't bother bypassing it, take the two black wires (one solid, one with stripe) which I believe are B and C, cut them on the switch-side of the harness, and splice them together via your preferred method.

this will bypass any starting issues you have, but please be aware of the gear you're in.

you will also lose reverse lights by removing it, which shouldn't bother you if you already lost them anyways.

I don't know what a CEL is must be a code
I'm just wondering why jeep would make such a wiring mess in there vehicles

on the diagram I'm looking at it looks like the NSS is what tells the TCU to shift into the lower gears
I have not looked at the AW4 break down but from what I have read
the lower gears are controlled with electric servos and can not be shifted manualy

CEL = check engine light.
