Default Luggage Rack to Light Bar Conversion

Has anyone used the luggage rack to mount your off road lights on? I saw a picture on the internet but was not to clear. If you have done so and have pics please post or email them to me. alfonsoperez0@gmail

When I bought my jeep it had two lights up there. It was just the main bar moved as far forward as possible and holes drilled in it. I would have left it if the lights were worth anything but they didnt work so I took them off. Plus if your gonna do it get four lights up there cause two just looks like mickey mouse ears.

I took the long rail off and drilled a hole through the roof and ran the wireing down the pillar trim. Siliconed the hole and put the rail back on and it was that easy. Took about 2 to 3 hours total. If you do this then make sure you put a 2x4 under the cross rail when you drill for light mounting before you drill so you dont overdrill into the roof.

I was thinking about doing this too, but what about low trees and stuff, is the roof rack strong enough?

I have'nt had any problems yet. If it does get ripped off then I'll get another one from the jy for $10. The lights are $20 per pair BAJAs from Wal mart. Cheap and work very well. If you rip one off then its not a biggie. Your only out $10 per light.
