Remove cat converter from 1991 XJ
The bolts look good, have not removed it yet. If it unbolts okay is there any reason not to just bolt a new converter in at the flange?
Have not bought the replacement cat converter yet.

No, I don't lick fish.
To help you unbolt it, run the motor to operating temperature. This will help the bolts loosen up a bit. MAKE SURE YOU WEAR GLOVES IF YOU DO THIS! You'll burn yourself quick if you don't. But, it's almost a sure-fire way to get the bolts off.

Uhhmmm..... no need to get crazy man. A pair of Mechanix Impact gloves (or similar) work just fine. You're not grabbing onto the exhaust parts while they're hot, your just breaking the bolts loose. The gloves are just to keep from getting burnt when your knuckles make momentary contact with hot parts.
