Remote Starter
Would the ScyTek G40 (G40RS) work with a 1998 XJ? (Automatic I-6)
Here is a link and if anyone has used it, is it good? If anyone knows of a good $50 or so remote starter please share. Doesnt have to do much except unlock the doors and start the car. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...G40-G40RS.html |
looks pretty universal dont see why it wont work |
There mostly all universay... I ran the viper remote start on my 98 Cummins diesel... it even waited for the glow plugs to warm before it started... $300 installed... controlled all my locks as well... never tried a El cheapo version...

Ok and my other question is: is there a bypass needed for xjs? Or does the key have to be left in? Anything funky?

Alright thanks. How hard are they to wire?

I am thinking about the installing a similar, if not the same, kit but I don't even have a keyless entry as of now. I do have the little microchip above the black bubble on the front of the headliner though. Would these kits work for me?

I got my mom a starter for christmas and asked about one for my jeep. They said it would be 250 to install and it would bypass my stock keyless. Im a little hazy on the install part but wondering if this would be a problem when i hack up the wires. (sorry for the thread jacking)

nah youre fine, i just bought that kit and i have the same question. im a 1998 XJ though so idk but i have keyless now

I got free install for $300 so I didn't worry about it... I can't see it being the same color wire in the same place on every vehicle.... I sure as heck didn't want to mess with it... trailer wires are one thing but you cut the wrong wire (like a wire with built in resistance) your screwed....
