My remote for my 99XJ finally decided to die... Can I rip it apart myself and change the battery or do i have to go to the dealer to have them fix it

you should definitely be able to change it yourself. its just two plastic halves. take it apart, go to your local hardware store, and get the type of battery it already has in it.

these wafer batteries are sometimes hard to find though, so it might take some looking around before you get the right kind.
