remanufactured engine for a 2000 xj
My Jeep blew the head gasket and from the looks of it I will be replacing the engine rather then taking a chance on doing the gasket and head. I have a question about the remanufactured engines that you could buy at Auto Zone or Advance Auto. I went to check out Autozone and they sell Surefire engines for about $2000 after core return and since its a store I dont pay anything for shipping. 3year 36000 miles waranty. The thing that I have a question about is that these engines come with a 0331 head also. No one at the store seemed concerned about that nor did they beleive that it would be a problem. Were the 0331 heads defective on new Jeeps only and these are different or are these still the same heads that were gone over? Should I just ask for an engine from a 98 instead? Would that be a dirrect swap? I am not a knowlegable mechanic so I am sorry if these questions seem trivial to some but I need help with this. Thanks
