Default Refurbishing leaf springs

hey guys im installing a AAL next week on my jeep so when I take off the leaf springs and break them down im just gonna shoot them w/ some paint while im at it. I know how to break them down with the C clamps and all. But I was wondering should i grease them or anything when I put them back together?

Also I have the factory hitch on my jeep and it looks like the bolt from the leaf spring into the shackle wont clear it. any ideas?

Thanks

That depends on what you want to do down the road as far as bumpers go....you could ditch the hitch and get a rear bumper that has an itergrated reciver. this will also improve your departure angle.

I also have a 2000 limited w/ stock hitch and it clears it fine, only thing is when I put the new shackles on with the AAL it rubbed against my exhaut because of the slight bend that stock has. So i had to cut the stock exhaust off past the bend and welded a new tailpipe on to clear both hitch and shackle bolt.

take your bolt off that is holding your shackle to the frame first then not the bolt holding onto the leafs themselves and yes grease wouldn't hurt, it will avoid that annoying squeaking after a muddy ride in the future
