Rebuilt 4.0 is pluming out white smoke

Cant for the life of me figure this out the head gasket is on correctly and I double checked everything. But I started it up for the first time and she was smoke a lot.... I mean a lot and then it settled then I did the proper break in procedure and there was white smoke everywhere and she won't start up now. And thoughts or similar issues in the past?

you have a 2001 jeep. did you make sure that the head was not cracked? The 2001 has 0331 head and has been prone to cracking between cylinders 3 and 4. If you look down the oil fill cap you can some times see coolant seeping through. Is it possible that you over torqued bolt 11 on the torque sequence? Bolt 11 is on the front intake side of cylinder 1. It requires only 100 foot/pounds and sealant to be placed on the threads prior to install. This bolt goes right into the water jacket behind the thermostat housing. You should probably pull the head and recheck everything. Run a compression test on all of the cylinders and see were it is leaking.

"smoke everywhere"

1) is it oil smoke or steam?

2) where is it coming from?

3) what, if anything, did you lube the cyl walls with for assembly lube?

4) the traditional 2000 cyl head crack leaks coolant into oil; shouldn't make smoke

5) Did you do your break in in spite of all this smoking going on; you might have really trashed something

Need answers to 1&2 to go any farther
