Folks, apparently some of you don't know how to reply to a thread without quoting a previous post. That's really bad when you have no reason to quote the previous post, because it wastes bandwidth and just clutters up the thread with useless garbage.

It's especially bad when you quote a previous post that has photos in it. Those poor guys trying to use the forum on their phones! You careless people are making all of us scroll past a lot of pointless noise just because you haven't taken the time to learn the correct way to reply.

Take a look down at the bottom of the page. There's a button on the left side that says, "Post Reply". That is what you should be using, unless you have a reason to quote a previous post, and I can't think of ANY reason to quote images. They are already on the page - nobody needs to have them repeated.

Use the "Post Reply" button, not the "Quote" button, unless you have a REASON to quote somebody. (And if you do, edit the stupid thing in stead of mindlessly quoting the entire thing just to respond to one point!)

In other words, stop being lazy and inconsiderate.

This has been a public service announcement.

Okay.

Sorry but I couldn't include your image in this quote.

Default I'll take the hit on this...

Since you went to so much work to Snap it and add the pretty Arrows in order to single me out of all the other users that do this and make me the example I will take the hit. I will admit guilt of being in a hurry because I really do have a lot of "Tabs up" and irons in the fire at one time. I had just looked at the time and realized I was about to be late to my Grandson's Birthday party 110 miles away.

In no way did I mean to be inconsiderate and in no way am I lazy, I was however in a hurry. If you knew the responsibilities I am faced with and get accomplished everyday you would be amazed. My life is pretty hectic 24-7 and I really enjoy coming in here to talk jeeps and take a mental break from the stress I have to deal with all day.

Here's something pretty cool! as I was replying here in a hurry, I was on another tab setting up hosting for my 9yr old Granddaughter's very first email account on my own Domain email server client. Not everyone gets to do this for their Granddaughter Then I looked at the time...

So I'll take the hit and apologize , I really do have a lot going on all the time and have to heavily multitask or I will never get it all done in the time I have available everyday. I am living on 4 hours of sleep as it is.

Please be patient and thank you for allowing me to come in here and relax a bit now and then

I am just not one of those kind of folks that have their garbage company # 1 on speed dial because they have nothing better to do in life but stress over whether their garbage might get picked up 5 minutes late. These folks really need to get out more. This really is not healthy for them and it will shorten their life span significantly. Please tell me that you are not one of these folks?

All that cash, all that time and the motor has to come back out. That sucks. Not sure I'd want whoever built it the first time touching it again. Good luck with it.

How is the script going to alert members that their posts may have been replied to if we do not "Quote" them and let it proceed with it's default algorithms? "Your Recent posts". Without quotes we are just throwing them into a black hole right? It will become confusing as to who you are addressing and replying to right? Some of us will ignore it rather than try to decipher it. Hence the "Quote" algorithm in this Outdated BB script.

Here's what I noticed in posting here. The images should actually come up as a file URL in text rather than just show up. Someone that does not understand BB code would not realize they can just backspace and delete back up to remove the image file. It should be displayed on our edit /reply page as a file text URL instead.

I do this for a living now and realize it is a catch 22 with this stuff. Sometimes when you upgrade to a newer version all of a sudden the previous version plugins and core show as depreciated. This would suck considering what you have going on here currently.

This would all need to be installed on another server and played with before replacing the current script with the upgraded version that may in it's self have it's own problems. Then point it back to your current database as a final install.

I would be willing to install the complete upgrade on my server and give out the keys so that you all can play and make the adjustments before moving it back to this server if that will help get things up to date? (Can't hurt a thing on my end. Just start over with a new install if you break it)

This way what is happening here will not get messed up while it is being "Adjusted". There is indeed an upgrade for this script. But It is wise not to jump on it to quickly. Needs to be loaded up elsewhere, tested and fine tuned first

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it, Fix it somewhere else first then announce "Look what we did!' lol
If I can help, please just let me know. This is now my preferred day job

Agreed. I'd get a full refund, and look elsewhere. I'd also post a review to Yelp.

Wrong. That function deals with the THREAD, not the individual post.

Wrong. That's why there are two different buttons. That's why there's multi-quote.

Quote if you need to (and edit appropriately). Don't if you don't. Don't just stupidly use the QUOTE button as if it's the only option.

It's that simple.

Really? Does this little issue really stress you that much? Please do not harm yourself and pop a gasket over such little things my friend. We have now used more "Bandwidth" in argument than all the pictures I have "Quoted".

Nothing like being one day and two dollars short I suppose. Well, I guess it is hard to humbly share knowledge with someone that already knows everything. But no, if you do not quote "Something" they will never be alerted. Fact.

Jeez, I kind of thought I made a a nice offer. Considering this version is like 3-4 versions behind current from what I read. I also read that the current version has dealt with and cured these issues we are debating right now.

So then you get defensive and use the term stupid? Bless you man.

So update on the motor as I went down to the shop with the motor in the bed of the truck we tore it down. Popped the bearings out and watched em punch new ones in. They arnt charging me a penny to resolve my issue too. They said the cam looked good but there replacing the oil pump with mellings standard volume pump and all new gaskets. Also we went over ALL my crank bearings and rod bearings as I insisted as I watched over his shoulder and they all look great! So back together it went and this weekend when I have more time I will be putting the beast back in.. the only thing is I couldn't get a straight awnser from them as to why they went bad. We took apart my oil pump and they mic'd it and said the oil pump was okay and the valve wasn't stuck but giving me a new one anyways.
What do you guys think on why they went bad? They looked EXACTLY like the ones posted in the pictures above
