Rear XJ Brake Lines
Quick question to throw out. I have about 3 inches of lift in the rear of my 93 XJ. Exactly which brake lines need to be replaced. I pieced together my lift so it wasn't a kit with all the parts. The rear springs are Old Man Emu. Anyway, the RE 3 1/2 kit shows that it comes with one extended brake line. I've read here on the Cherokee forum about using 2 YJ brake lines. Exactly what brake lines need to be replaced and how many? I have ABS, is that matters. Thank you all in advance for any info that is provided.

Your front hard lines can be bent straight and use the YJ lines for the front up to about 6 inches of lift.
Rear you will need to buy an extended line going from the frame side bracket to the axle block. Line usually runs about 30-40 bucks.

Any year 4X4 Dakota rear lines will work they are even longer than YJ lines. For a 3" lift the YJ rear line from a '95 will be perfect.

Didn't know that about the YJ rear lines. I had read about fronts and the guy I acquired my YJ lines from only had the fronts available.
Good info to know.

I had no idea either until a while ago when someone mentioned it on here. I grabbed one, stuck it on and now it works fine with my 5" rear hot-rod lift. I still have some slack in it.

i just had my parts guy look the stock one up and find me lines that were about 6" longer. i'm glad to hear everyone coming up with other lines instead of the stainless braided lines in the catalogs. those suck.

no kidding, i've had the braided lines pop a leak right where they're attached to the fitting, going down a steep hill to make it better. thank god for manual trans. not much stretch. and they're expensive.
