I have a basic 99 XJ with NO rear speakers. I was thinking of putting in rear speakers bit have a few questions. Would my Jeep have the wiring already there, on the ceiling of the cargo area?
Mine too- and neither of the speakers in my sound bar work for crap (they get a tiny amount of sound at near full volume). I am planning on just removing all the cloth and spray painting when I install my new speakers. I have also thought of doing a bedliner coating to make it match my rockers/fender flares/bumpers.

I used glue and staples to hold it up. First I put some clear elmers glue on the cloth and streched it and then stapled it. Later on when it dries you can remove the staples...Tj...

6 1/2" speakers fit in the rear headliner mounts. I just replaced all my speakers and I read somewhere for 5 1/4" for the door speakers and a 6 1/2" fits right in there too.

For the rear speaker situation, I am not too sure about the wires but those are easy to run.
As far as the "saggy" cloth just go ahead and pull the headliner and the soundbar and rewrap them. Not too hard at all. I would make sure you use good glue or you will be doing it again in 6 months. I just did mine this past weekend, I have done several before and have always used 3M Super 90 spray adhesive. Hope this helps!

Ok thank you guys Im going to a jy tomorrow to get a sound bar to put in the ceiling. BTW i also have the sagging headliner, driver side above seat. Its kinda annoying cuz it touches my head sometimes, kinda feels like theres a ghost lightly grazing my hair. lol.

This is the second XJ I have had with that problem. When I get done with the build up, I will fix this. What yo have to do is to remove the head liner, pull the old material off and then take a wire brush and gently scrape off all the old glue. Then spray the fiberglass foundation material with contact cement. Spray half of the material, fold it in half and lay the unglued side on. Then start from the middle and press down on the material working your way out from the center. Repeat with the other half then you are done.
Wife called and the four new speakers I ordered for the XJ came today so looks like I will be working on the soundbar sooner than I figured. :-) Just ordered 2 days ago, guess I didn't need to spend extra on the expedited shipping!
