Okay so i've had my 95 jeep cherokee 4 door for awhile and it's been doing pretty fine untill one night i was driving down the high way and my dash lights suddenly turned dark. I got it home without any crashes but then i came to find out the rear lights don't work either. The first thing i did was change the fuse. As soon as i put another fuse in it blew so i figured a short.
I wanna fix it but i have no idea where to start and were to go from there.
Any help? I've also been looking for a wiring diagram but i can't seem to find one. Thanks guys.

 

Had the same problem with my 94 xj..replaced the headlight switch havent had a problem since

 

did the headlights turn on with the switch and also did the fuse keep poping befor u replaced it?

A couple of questions. Does the fuse pop as soon as you put it in or when you turn on the headlights? Have you done any work iside the rear hatch lately? If you answer yes to these questions then your answer lies within.

i haven't done any work to the rear hatch but ill take it apart and look for those wires in a few. Thanks

 

i didn't find any wires that were melted or anything

Headlight switch

 

I'll say headlight switch, I have the same problem but I have been entirely too lazy to install the switch I have laying aroind

 

ill install a new headlight switch this weekend and see if that works thanks guys. How hard is it to replace. I'm more of a engine man but i figure taking the dash off shouldn't be that hard.

 

also i just noticed something today. the chime thing when the door opens also doesn't work.
