rear o2 problems
okay, I had my check engine light read, and I have a short in my 02 sensor wires somewhere. I have changed the sensor two times now, thanks to my local advanced auto parts, at only the charge of the first sensor. my thought was that there was a problem with the sensor, but now I'm thinking that it is in the wiring some where up top.
My big question is this....is this going to hurt my jeep more than just gas millage untill i can get to it when it warms up? its 0degrees up here and I don't have a garage.

well, the thing about o2 censors is, they make your engine run rich (obviously) and they also make the engine run rough (or at least some of the time).. If the o2 censor is bad, then when the engine is running rough, theres a chance that a cylinder might not be firing right, and that means that another cylinder is carrying the non working one.. long story short, rods can fly through blocks, all because of a bad o2 censor..

ah, man your fine dont worry about it.. it does the same thing if you have the wire fixed, and you dont have a cat.. it tells the ecu how clean the air is after the cat, and then the computer adjusts the air/fuel ratio to correct it.. So no, your fine.. if it starts to run like a Harley Davidson, well that means somethings up..

man, that is what I thought, i just wanted to make sure, but then I have guys telling me that I am going to throw a rod, and all that stuff. If you don't know, dont scare me!!! I was just worried about having a wiring mess. I know I'm not going to blow my motor (my sunfire was run without a cat for years)

Was the check engine lite reset when you replaced the o2 senor, meaning did you reset it! I asked for the code so i could look it up just in case you may have missed something. I riped from my cat back off my old xj and ripped the wiring for the o2 sensor. It throught any codes! I dont thank you have a problem there I think it still may be you cat being clogged or not doin it's job by letting your emissions passed throught without filtering properly.
