Default XJ vin locations?

Hi,
My Irish reg. 2000 xj passenger has just failed nct (mot) due to there being no vids able vin number on chassis. Appears to be no plate under bonnet and probably never was one. Looked in usual place. One on each door and behind windscreen but no plate. Does anyone know where there might be one stamped on to keep testers happy? Thanks in advance!

Passenger side fender up around where the cruise control actuator is. Or would be if you don't have one. Least it is on my '00.

I found a paper label on the front side of the radiator support frame, on the driver's side, that had my VIN.

Yes I can see a label in the position you describe but nothing legible on it. I wonder is it actually stamped on bodywork anywhere. Have a whole lot of paperwork to do if I can't find it. Thanks again!

Look in through the windshield, bottom corner on the drivers side on the dash.

The VIN by the windshield shouldnt be worn down or unreadable, etc. being a 2000. Its too new. Hopefully it is only covered in dirt as that is the one the Police and inspection stations look for. Is the door tag still intact? Should have the VIN just above the barcode. I dont about Jeep, but other vehicles, since the 90s atleast, have VIN labels on every major body part. This includes the hood, fenders, quarter panels and doors. I have seen them on the roof as well. The VIN may be stamped into the panel. My 97 is stamped on the inner fender, next to the PDC. It is the complete VIN. It is also on the body tag by the left hood hinge. Again, full VIN.

Also, how do titles work for you? Registration? A title should have the VIN along with your name. The title is proof of ownership, basically. The VIN, for me atleast, is also on the registration card, from the insurance company.

X2, I've seen the CHP use it. (I'm not sure it isn't part of the body). He might be mistaken, or messing with you. In your shoes I might just phone my state HP and tell them your problem.

Found VIN engraved on the inner wing tucked in behind the bonnet stay rod. Thanks all for the help.

Across the pond, bonnet = hood. Bonnet stay rod = hood prop. Never heard the term inner wing before. I assume that means inner fender, as thats where the VIN is typically stamped from what i have seen. Just below the hood prop.
