Rear hatch dash light staying on.
Hey guys
On my 98 XJ the rear hatch dash light to show that the hatch is open just start to stay on the other day and it will not go off as long as the key is on. It must run on a separate then the interior because when I close the hatch the inside light go off as they should but the red dash light stays on. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how can I fix this. The only time that it bothers me is at night because it's so bright. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

there is a rear hatch dash light?
The guys who are a little more electrical saavy may have some other suggestions, but find the switch at the hatch and make sure it isnt stuck. Pull it out, check it with a multi meter etc.

It's the hatch open indicator on the dash not the interior lights or the brake light. It like the one that shows your doors are ajar. I don't see a switch for it or even one for the interior lights.

I know I can't see any kind of switch. I was thinking that maybe it had a mercury switch or something similar. It looks like I am to have to do what I really didn't want to so, Pull off the paneling and hunt around. It may have to wait awhile since I just had back surgery. Anyways thanks for the input.
