Default Rear door locking mechanism

first of all my XJ doesn't have power doors, so I guess this makes things easier.

my rear doors seem to be jammed in the locked position. my mechanic told me I could put lube but it's only going to fix the issue for a small amount of time and it'll get stuck again soon. so I figured I'd start looking for new locks (I don't know the name of the part exactly. basically the push button from the outside sometimes stays stuck "pushed" which makes the lock/unlock impossible, the button will always move but never engage to unlock)

I've looked around and found this guy doing a part out of his cherokee. I'd be interested in getting his locks but I have no idea how to proceed. I guess I have to remove the inside trim but I'm looking for more information (tools to use, etc) to make sure I don't stay there 2 hours trying to figure it out by myself.

Any insight appreciated! Thanks

Edit:

found this pic online, basically the same place where this guy is working, but on the rear door.

Your pic isn't showing up for me. So the button from the outside stays jammed in? If so, when u take the panel off, there is a small Philips screw, the pm the little plate will slide off pulling the button with it. It may just be dirty. I replaced the part on my jeep about 3 days ago

Try bring it to a locksmith. You might just need the wafers replaced or cleaned.

I guess I'll have to take out the panel but the issue is I can't open my door right now so I can't check on my own XJ to see how it works. And since I don't want to get there without knowing what to do I thought I'd ask. I'm pretty sure it is only dirt / corrosion / etc, but I thought getting a cheap new one would be less time consuming than getting my old one out to clean it thoroughly.

Thanks for the reply!

I checked and there doesn't seem to have what I need. My mechanic told me you can't find these types of parts anymore. Of course I checked myself but I couldn't find a new / replacement one, so I started to check junk yards and such.

Yeah, junk is good for door parts, Morris 4x4 also has a lot of parts.
