rear disc brakes!
got a 98' XJ limited. want to convert my drum's to disc brakes. what do i need to pull off of other jeep's to make this work. my buddy did his conversion from parts from a tj i think. open to all suggestions. thanks.

Ideally you would need the master cylinder, the proportioning valve, the rear backing plates, parking brake assy.'s, calipers and mounting brackets, rotors, and longer wheel studs.

i few options i can think of are buying a diff axle.....
either an 8.8 from a ford explorer with discs already on it (then remove ford leaf spring perches and weld on new ones to fit your leaf spring packs..... also at this time you can weld the perches to set your pinion angle also making sure the gearing is matching)
OR
Pickup a d35 from a grand cherokee with the disc brakes, remove the coil buckets on the axle and do the same as you would 4 the 8.8 weld on new leaf spring perches

The real question is whether this is worth your time. the rear drum brakes aren't awesome, but they work. Wrangler rear axles are mostly drum, unless you can find a rubicon axle...even then you probably have to re-gear them.
