Default Rear differential fluid change with Limited slip

Alright it says it on my profile but i have a 1991 jeep cherokee base model with 167,xxx miles with a 8.25 rear with limited slip and I'm going to change the fluid soon and I have lucus 75-90 synthetic and was wondering what additive to use? I daily drive this jeep but I also take it off road here and there. I did look this up and find this and was wondering if that is the best to use? (For use in all Daimler Chrysler USA Corporate axles (205mm/8.25"). If used in a limited slip axle add 05103522EA limited slip additive.) thanks for the help

The additive makes the clutches inside the diff slip more which somewhat reduces the torque to the wheels and somewhat lessens the effectiveness of a traction enhanced diff. Try refilling the diff with a gear oil that does not have any additive/friction modifier in it. Do some tight figure eight turns. If no noise "chatter" can be heard from the diff while doing the tight turns, u r good to go. If u do hear noise while doing a tight turn, add 1/2 of a tube of additive (from the dealership) and try again. No noise, stop there. If u still hear noise, add the other 1/2. Remember, the additive makes the clutches slip more.....more slip means less equal torque to both wheels.

The Mopar Limited Slip Additive. It comes in 4 oz bottles. Dealer part number is 4138060AB. About $7 a bottle. One bottle per axle assuming you aren't using gear oil that already has additives for limited slip. If your gear oil is the limited slip variety then you shouldn't need to add any additives.

I used amsoil severe gear 75w-90 and added no limited slip lube to the differential. I have no chatter with my LSD

So I don't ads any additive even if it says to add some if I have limited slip? How much of the 4 ounce should I use? Half and see what that does? If there is no chatter leave it and if there is add the rest?

Some diff oil already has the additive. What does your label say?

....and as stated, some gear oils have the "additive" in them.....read the label. Try to find gear oil that does not have the "additive" and re-read my post.

It doesn't have any added cause when I bought it I didn't know mine had limited slip in the back this is the first time I have changed this jeeps rear fluid. I re read the tread just wanted to make sure cause of what I have researched so far I have read that "if it has limited slip add additive" but I know people find other ways and know better ways to
Make sure it's better ha thanks for your help guys not trying to be a noob about this but it is my first time on jeeps with limited slip.

Those that say "if it has a limited slip, add the additive" can't explain why, don't know why and probably don't understand how a clutch type limited slip diff works. I've explained why u don't want to add the additive.......and that is to get the max performance from your traction enhanced/limited slip diff. Some folks can't stand even a little diff "chatter" from their limited slip diff in a tight turn. Those r the folks that don't understand a clutch type limited slip and those r the folks that should never have anything but an "open" diff in their ride.

"Snake Oil" magic in a bottle. guess if you have to use it anywhere the differential would be the least harmful if following their directions for use.

Sorry JMO but just too many bad experience's with the oil and have saw engines torn down after using it "As Directed" with only filter changes.
