Default Rear axle

alright guys this isnt another "what rear axle do I have question" trust me.

Now im in the process of swaping my diff. fluid and when i took my cover off at the bottom it has a tag and printed on there is 35 now i thought and still do thik I have a 8.25 but this thing is throwing me off anything have a tag like this on there 8.25?

Alright here it is you can see the rear end great and the pic of the cover but the closeups are of the little tag but you ant really see the 35 stamped into it

pretty sure its an 8.25, but cant see the 35 stamped anywhere. but i think it's probly your gears, 3.55. could be wrong though.

thats an 8.25. the 35 you read could have been a 355 for the gear ratio which is what the auto's came with.

That's an 8.25....

The 35C meaning Dana 35 isnt anywhere on the cover or a tag... its in the webbing of the housing...

Great thread!!!.....funny thing, I just discovered that little 35 tag on my XJ about 45 mins ago....and was a lil disappointed and puzzled and hoped I could find some guidance here. MAN!!! you sure made that easy!!! thanx

Default torn filler cap

My rear axle cap has a tear so oil is leaking through it. I know the Mopar part number for a differential plug is 3723-687 but I'm not sure if that's what I need. The plug on my axle is a rubber cap, it doesn't have a thread, when pushed on to the fill hole, it fits in almost like a rubber grommet. Anyone know if there's a generic replacement for it?
