random stalling

i have a 99 jeep Cherokee sport 2wd with a 4.0 L6. About a month ago my jeep started to randomly stall but would crank right back up, then one day it stalled and took forever to crank back up, now when it stalls it usually has to sit anywhere from a couple hours to a whole day without starting.i replaced distributor cap, spark plugs, and ignition coil so far because everyone says it could be a number of things. what do i do?

Could be the crank sensor, cam sensor, or it could be something else. Check for codes, even if the CEL is off, before replacing anything.

Like said over there, check for codes. Even if the CEL is off.

Weird I have a 2000 sport with a 4.0l 4wd. Mine did the same thing to me yesterday. It was the first time that happened. Had it towed to my house. It started right up about 4hrs later.

Really strange.

Any other ideas.

Will a harbor freight code reader be able to grab a code even if no dash light came on?

Depends. cPS doesn't throw a code for instance.

Well I let it fun for about 10 minutes. After it warmed up. I heard a sputter. So I gave it some gas. The RPM increased fine if I brought them up slowly. It I massed the accelerator, it sputter and wanted to die. I had to feather the exhaust. As the engine got warmer, it got worse. Any more ideas. Still no code.

Fuel pump dying?

Don't get too hung up on this code stuff.
