And iirc distilled water has a different boiling point than water. And yes, please dont just drain coolant ever.

Even not all distilled water is the same or without impurities. A proper coolant mixture should always be used, not water.

When I did my flush beginning of the year, I used peak green concentrated coolant with distilled water and made my own 50/50 mix and jeep runs at 195-205 and when we have our 95+ days it goes to 210 with the AC on

Are you sure you have a 195 thermostat in there? That temp seems a little low to me.

Even in 100F+ Texas weather I sit at 210F or below under all conditions so I probably won't change anything in the Jeep yet cooling wise. I run Evans waterless coolant in my other cars.

I was just curious because mine sits just below 210 all the time. Unless I'm running really hard in the sand.

Lol, I should take a pic. I think that you think that I'm describing it being at like a line before 210 lol. I bet mines sit like yours, a little before 210. I always give that range because in reality I can't say if its 200, 207, 199, etc, that's all.

Okay, distilled water it is, and I understand this. BUT... the downstream coolant thing, really? What about for ferrel cats?

I dare say that most people don't use the DIF (digital infrared thermometer) correctly, as there is a ratio of object size and distance to employ; and I dare say that most people don't employ it! In any case, that temp is still HOT!

Oh hold on I never voted.

Truth is, OE was good when it came from the factory. Yes an XJs cooling system will suck without maintenance but countless of us told you real life stories about what our temps are after maintaining the system with an OEM radiator

Why. I still have a mostly factory system. Only thing that's been replaced is the fan clutch. Temps don't fluctuate unless you are running really hard.
