Default Who's Done a Roll Cage Inside a XJ Before?

I'm looking to get ideas, any tips or tricks to doing a full cage inside of my rig. With the TJ, cages are cake because you can build them on the garage floor and then just drop them in. Not so much with an XJ...

I have seen the Rockhard 4x4 Cherokee cage and I don't like the ugly big clamps with all the allen bolts protruding out at every joint. I think it just looks terrible.

I'd like to see some pics of some custom, fully welded internal roll cages to get some ideas or hear from anyone that's done one with some tips so when I do mine... I have a head start.

Thanks!

This is the cage I put in. Click on custom cages. And they offer cages all ready cut, bent, and formed for the cherokee. All you have to do is follow the directions and weld them together. Its super easy and very cheep, for what it is. I paid like $590 for mine and its much stronger than the bolt in ones.

They offer a cage for any year 4 door, any year 2 door, or the ultimate jeep speed certifyed cage for jeep speed racing and for ultimate offroad use.

Wow thanks for that info!

That's almost too easy to be true. Pre-bent, just weld together and you're set...

That makes it easy for us as we have a plasma cutter, MIG welder but no tubing bender yet.

Cool thanks. If you know which member did it, it might make my search a littel easier on that site. Another Jeep site for me to look at during the day... I'll never get any real work done now!

That kit is very good quality, but it is more expensive and in my opinion the Essentially Offroad kit is even better. It comes with more suport beams and is by far the best kit I have ever used. Usualy, cheeper means less quality, but not in this case. Just look at the pics. I know wich cage I am trusting to save my life. I have rolled an xj and I have been in a pasenger seat in an xj that rolled and I can testify to what happens to an xj when it rolls. Odly enough, both times I was upside down, was when the day of hard wheeling had ended and we were playing in a small ditch that you would of never guessed would of fliped us. But it did and now the first thing I do when I get an xj that I am going to wheel is put a cage in it. Befor anything, lift kit, tires, wheels, lockers, a cage goes in it. I have been wheeling xjs for more than 12 years now and I curently own 3 xjs, an 87 renix, a 93 with a 4.7 stroker and a 96 that the wife drives in the trails and all 3 have cages and are trail ready. You may think you dont need a cage, but end up side down just once and you will sing a different tune. Not every one needs a cage but if you take your doors off or are a medium to hard core wheeler it worth every penny.

The first cage I bought, and then took detailed mesurements off of it and now I use a $90 harbor freight tube bender and some good quality tube and I bend my own. I have done 7 different cages this way and they all pass the test. But for the price of the steel and how much time and effort it takes to fab your own cage its deffenatly worth buying a good quality cage and just spending an afternoon welding it and be done with it. The metal alone costs darn near as much as the kit. Have you priced this stuff lately? Wow, talk about expensive. From now on I will just buy a kit and not go through the BS of making my own.

Default Hidden roll cage

I've been thinking about putting a cage in my 95 xj. I want to try and design a cage that is hidden as much as possible to retain the look of the stock interior. Has anyone does this or even attempted this before?
Any suggestions or ideas would be really appreciated.
