Radiator removal - how to disconnect this bottom line?
Hi all, I'm in the middle of removing the radiator on my 87 xj - but I'm not sure how to disconnect this bottom fitting on the driver side:

Do I just pull really hard and pop it off or is there a release or clip somewhere?

Push in slightly as you depress the "ears, then pull off. Be careful as you pull off, there are o-rings and a plastic spacer inside.. you dont want them falling out and getting lost. Prop the hose up after you disassemble.

Get a quick disconnect tool. You can get them at Autozone or O'Rielly's. I just did this last month and I actually broke the line in order to get it off. Then I realized all I needed tot do was use the quick disconnect tool. You will need it to put the line back on too.

Came right off when I used a needlenose on the clips, pushed in then pulled out. New radiator works great after a short test. Pics in my album in case that helps anyone. Thanks for your help everyone!

Old post, but I'd like to bump it. I'm stuck on the same step and I don't see the plastic clips. I'm not seeing them on my Jeep or in this picture. Am I missing something?

Yes & Yes. The type of tool is considered a jiffy tool, very common for fuel and transmission lines. Can be purchased individually or in a kit from any automotive supply chain.
And yes, it's an auto trans cooler line.
Caution -
I've read of dozens upon dozens of people having re-installation issues with aftermarket "O.E Fitment" radiators. The new fitting that replaces the one pictured in this thread, seems to always protrude from the radiator farther, making it hit the inner fender. Pre-fit everything by mocking up all the parts prior to install.
I personally ran into this problem with my "Ready Rad" Radiator (Part #43-2335) from Advance Auto Parts.
I hammer drilled the fender down and out of the way to accommodate the farther out line. Also, be sure to double check the trans lines for leaks when finished with the install.
