You can just unscrew the brass bung in the radiator...I think. Can't remember if the stock one was two piece or not. Looks like it is in the pic. The replacement one with the new radiator was one piece. Mine was frozen too, tool didn't work, ended up cutting the fitting off and repairing with rubber hose and clamps.

Still no luck, that thing is on there for good. Which do you think is a better option, unscrewing the brass fitting in the radiator and screwing into the new one if I can, or just do what you did and cut the fitting off and use new hose and clamp. If I do the latter, did you have to get an extension of hose, and was the hose that the fitting is on the right size to clamp down on the new copper hardline on the new radiator?

Loosening that lower nut doesn't help you. that brass pipe is attached to the small tranny coolant tank inside the radiator. The nut just keeps it in one spot and from letting water/ coolant from leaking out around it.

Mine was a PITA but it finally came off by applying some prying leverage while pushing in hard on the fuel line tool. If that doesn't work for you, cut it and use hose clamps.

I cut mine a little short in a fit of rage...and had to splice a short piece of hose in. I think if you're careful there is enough there to go back on the new piece and get two clamps on it. Also, I flared the end of the new tube to help with sealing.

If you are replacing, what I had to do was basically wrench the radiator around in a circle, shearing the original fitting in half. Then with the radiator out I was able to manipulate the inside of the fitting to get it off of what was left of the brass fitting still attached. Worked for me.

I used a tube cutter and cut it back by the oil pan, then bought a few feet of tranny cooler hose and hose clamped it to the hardline and the new radiator. There is not a lot of pressure, it doesnt leak. I've since bypassed the radiator cooler, but still been fine with rubber line hose clamped to the stock hardlines.

They should call it a slow disconnect seriouly just cut the hose close to the tube and get a barbed fitting a foot of hose double clamp each end call it a day.
