Quick U-Bolt Question.
 

i need U-bolts for tomorrow where can i get them and whats the price. went on the autozone website and they were all ship to home. like i said i need to get some today for tomorrow. its a 91 with a D35

You can go into Autozone and get a lift block kit and throw the blocks away and keep the bolts. They are like $25 to 30 for a kit. Bolts from the dealer are $80 for 4. Good luck.

Its a shame you live so far away. I have a set of brand new D35 u-bolts in my garage.

Id rather do that than pay $80.

Local spring shops are capable of making ubolts. Take an old one with you. Or you can give them the tube diameter and length and they should be able to match them up.

im just installing new stock leafs. Im guessing i cant use the old one? ive read "NEVER RE_USE U-BOLTS"

I wouldnt.. ubolts stretch. Considering these are stock u-bolts i'd get new, now if they were somewhat newish with replacement springs it's not such an issue.

ya these are stock.

you're right, you should never reuse u-bolts. but if they're the factory bolts, they are a much better quality than autozone replacements. therefore you can most likely get away with it without any problems.

the reason why you don't want to reuse them is they stretch when torqued down, therefore making them weaker. but if they are chrome cheapies, i'd get new ones. at least new cheapies to save money.

if you were installing lift springs, i'd say get the good ones made up.

so if you want new u-bolts, go to a spring shop and get a set made up. they are a bit more expensive, but will be a much better quality.

well im doing a 2 inch lift and i got new stock springs and i was just going to swap out the leafs and reuse the stock ubolts but then someone said just got to autozone and get some new cheap ones

you could, but in all reality, they won't really be much stronger than the stock ones you have now.

i would trust the strength of the stock ones over the cheapies.

i have had to reuse the stock ones before without any problems.

So your saying just use the ones that are already on the jeep because the cheap ones are crap?

yeah, as long as they look ok visually. but if they're bent, cracked, or the threads are chewed, replace them. you can go with the cheapies from autozone, but be careful trying to torque them down to 50lbs. they might just snap on ya.
