Quick (hopefully) blower switch question
On top of needing a new heater core, my blower switch just gave out. Only turns the blower on #4. Numbers 1, 2, 3 inop. I have a similar problem on our 2003 TJ except that it's only the #2 that is dead. Is this just a switch problem or something worse?

Old fart with a wrench
If I remember correctly, it's under a cover with the fan underneath the glovebox.

I replaced the one in my '03 TJ a few weeks ago. The one I replaced was a MOPAR blower resistor (pt.# 5139719AA) and I only got 5 years out of it. This time I got one from NAPA (Echlin pt.# BR256) and so far so good.

Got it! The real problem was getting that damned kick cover off. Four screws, two easy to find the other two next to invisible.
Looks like it was a little cooked, no?
Thanks for the help.

Most of the reasons the resistor gets toasted is because of high amperage draw from bad fan motor bearings. It's a good idea to replace the fan at the same time you re-do the resistor.

If it fries again soon, replace the fan. Been there. You can help save it by turning the mode switch to off leaving the fan switch to 4, then turning down the blower speed after starting it up. That way the inrush current won't burn the resistor.
