Default Quick help with a cruiser tip?

Doing work to my jeep so decided it was time to do the Cruiser valve cover mod. I watched a video on YouTube and on the guys jeep his tube has no hole already in it on any side.

However when I took mine off it already has a hole on the smallest side. Should I still drill one on the side facing the front window.

Here is what I mean by "it already has a hole."

Do I still need to drill another hole on the right side?

I am curious of the answer here. I encountered the same thing on my 1989 XJ 4.0L. Mine looked exactly like that. I was thinking maybe was already done, needed to get the jeep moving anyways, so I slapped it back on and moved on.

^ I am just going to put it back together with the hole that's already there plus the inch I cut off. I need to get it back going.

I went to check Cruiser site for something else and went ahead and clicked on the Valve Cover Mod and in his pictures the hole is the same as mine. So I guess it doesn't matter.

The reason for the confusion was I originally watched a youtube video of the valve cover mod (cruiser even has the same video on his site) and in the video his tubes had no holes and he said to be sure to drill the holes facing the window......

Anyway, just wanted to clear that up for anybody.

I don't think it really matters which side of the flute the hole is drilled on.

Is it possible a similar mod was already done in our cases or were some from the factory this way?

Just curious.
