Hi, I am new to the forums and new to jeeps in general. Recently I got a 1992 Cherokee, I searched the forums a bit and kind of got lost in it all so heres my question The question I have is when this jeep runs for awile or gets hot it idles high for a bit then it kind of stutters on take off and if it dies during this, the engine wont start for about 15 minutes or until its cool. When I first start it or am just driving it seems fine but will just start doing this and doesnt do it all the time, I dont get it. Any and all help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

im guessing that you may be overheating and your guage aint reading right IIRC the sending unit is on the passenger side of the block right under the oil filter adapter, i would try checking all elec connections for that and clean the terminals for it and see what happens but that def sounds like an over heating problem to me as far as the dying part goes, for the idle try pulling the idle air controller and cleaning it and replace the throttle position sensor, they are both located both on the throttle body on the fire wall side, its much easier to replace them if you pull the throttle body off the intake
