Default Question about sealed beams

Hello,

Is it possible for just the low beam section of a sealed beam headlight to be out?
I don't know much about sealed beams.

Thanks!

Searched for "sealed beams" & "Headlight" with no direct pertinent info.

Yup, sure is. There are two filaments, and one can burn out before the other.

For me its the passenger low beam. I was stumped as I thought it was all one filament in a sealed beam with a reflector. Ground was good, fuses were good and the 3 pin connector was good. So hearing that it IS a dual filament brings great relief.

Funny story. As a teen I dragged my Camaro into the inspection station. The inspector told me to turn the low beams on, Passenger side comes on, drivers side out. Tells me to turn the high beams on, drivers side comes on, passengers side out. He passed it, but told me to replace the bulbs! Ha.

Sometimes a good thump on the glass will reconnect the filaments for a while and get the lows/highs working for a few more days.

oh, it does pay to check volts at the 3 pin connector. i had an open wire right at the crimp, inside the insulation, tricky to find.

UPDATE: It was indeed the low beam filament. Replaced both sealed beams while I was at it and $20 later all is good. Thank you all for the help.
