Question about the door arm
When I bought my Jeep, someone had put a bolt down in the door hole, rather than the actual door pin. This make a terrible CLUNK sound whenever I opened my door, and today I finally got around to trying to getting it out.
Once I had removed it, I didn't have the pin to put in there (I should have thought about this prior to removing it), and the door arm that kind of "snaps" in place to prop the door open had basically gone inside of the door. I was able to pull it out maybe an inch or two, but definitely not far enough to reach the holes it lines up to (on the main part of the body). The arm wiggles a little bit, but won't come out any more. I've tried taking out the bolts that holds that little piece, but if I take them out completely, I still can't move the arm any further in, and the entire piece feels like it will fall inside of the door if i remove the bolts completely. Does anyone have any info or experience with this? Thanks for any info. Btw, right now my door opens just fine, it just doesn't prop open at the halfway and fully-extended points |
Take the door trim off , & remove the door prop. Soak it in PB blaster or wd40 then se if it will work. You might get it out & find that its bent! In that case go to the junkyard & buy one for $1-$2! :D

By door trim, you mean the interior panel of the door, correct?
EDIT: Wow, found a topic here all the way from google. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/doo...-70648/index2/ Looks like 3 zipties is the trick to pulling the arm out of the door. I'll report back. |
