Question about Dashboard

Hi!

I recently purchased a 1992 Jeep Cherokee, I love it. However, since I’ve had it, the lights on the fuel meter and speedometer were very dim and now they’ve completely stopped working. I’m just wondering if there are bulbs I can replace? I bought it for fun, but I’m not the most car smart person around :x lol.

The bulbs can be replaced, they are 194's. I think there are like 9 total bulbs between illumination lights and turn signals, etc. It is a little involved, look up how to remove the cluster. Its 4 screws on the plastic trim, then 6 screws to remove the actual cluster, and just unclip the two harness plugs.

Like the Red said above... bulbs are replaceable. It’s not very difficult. You should check out LED options. There are kits on ebay (for lower cost) and Amazon.

... That is if you’re not worried about EMPs 🤣

Maybe a dumb question but have you tried twisting the headlight switch? It's not immediately obvious that's the dimmer for the dash lights.

Brilliant! LOL!

Morat, you beat me to it!

ktr04, check out the headlight harness upgrade mentioned on the forum. It works great and is cheap and easy to install. Around $20, made by Putco.

Wow..... this was it. I have to replace two bulbs but this made it way brighter...thought it was odd to have to turn it counter clockwise. Are bulbs replaceable where the check engine light/4wd/washer fluid lights are?

Thank you guys so much for the help!

They are replaceable. I believe they are #74 bulbs. Look on amazon, they are cheaper for a sylvania 10pk, its less than 10 bucks. Parts stores get like 5 bucks for a 2 pack.
