Hey all, new to the jeep community. Looking to get new tires and wheels as long as a lift.
Thinking RC 6.5 with 33's or 35's. I do know i would have to cut fenders and all that.
But would i have to do anything with the gears? Wouldn't want to burn out the transmission.
Also i read that the RC 6.5 isn't a smooth ride? Because it's not long arm?

Anything above 4-5" you should really get a long arm kit. Short arms at 6.5" are at way to steep of an angle.

Gears yes you will want to switch gear for 33"+ tires, something like 4.56's or lowers.

Ring and pinion for both axles will run about $500 bucks, and you will need a new carrier for the front. plus labor unless you are going to do it your self

i just did the 6.5" rc lift and it comes with drop brakets for the control arms so they are not steep i have a side pic where you can kind of see the angle havent really had to take pics its in my uncles shop but i can take more and post them if that is the lift you are interested in (note i added 2" in the front and 3" in the rear on top of the 6.5")

well ive only driven it once due to my awesome luck blew some kind of rubber plug out of the tranny pan (notice the fluid and drip pan in pic). but it wasnt too bad its no cadillac so not much can be expected you know and i havent put in my rear shocks cause the top bolts snapped off in the brackets on both sides but ill post some more pics soon when i get it done

What exactly are you planning on using it for? If you are going to use it as a doily driver the control arm drop kits are fine. However, if you are going to use it as an entertainment vehicle, understand that the control arm drop kits give the axle more leverage against your unibody. I strongly reccomend the long arm kit with that much lift, because they usually also come with frame strengtheners, from what ive seen.

What you do with your gearing also depends on what you are doing with the vehicle. Even as a daily diver, you will need to change gearing, but with that kind of lift, if it is a entertainment vehicle, i would definitely think about spending the extra cash on upgraded axles. At least d44's and maybe 60's.

Ride comfort. Ride comfort unfortunately also depends on what you want to do with it. As a daily driver or rockcrawler, you will want a softer lift for more flex and a smoother ride. However if you like mud you will want a stiffer suspension.

i use the rc 6.5 it works fine to start out with i use 35's right now but i had to trim the fenders but the threads on how to do this it is very easy. 33's you well be fine. as far as gears you can run the 3.55's like i am temperately you well just burn lots o gas and slow as hell lol:thumbsup:
