puttputtputt/backfire?
okay here we go... had a minor putput coming out of the exaust. maybe 1 putt per 10 seconds...THEN i was told to change the spark plugs, possibly due to old plugs there was a poor spark on one or two cyl. makes sense right? NO after i changed the spark plugs it started putting more frequently and at larger scales. now i was informed there could be a possible carbon build up in a few cyl. and that adding some kind of fuel inj.cleaner would lessen that problem. now i have used this before in the past but not recently.what kind of damage could come from running the jeep like this without fixing it? I just need some input from more exp. jeep drivers before i spend a million dollars in some shop :D thank you all

Take ten bucks and trade it in for a can of seafoam.
Then dump half the can into your tb and the other half into your tank. Enjoy the smoke show, and see if it fixes your putput problem. |
ive heard of seafoam before. now put half in my tank and the other half where?
|
Here is an instructional video.
Part 1: Part 2: |
tb=throttle body. >.> duh. okay so he says pour half in the tb and then the other half in the tank, ive read a few reviews and it says not to leave the seafoam in. do an oil change. but when i changed my plugs, yesterday, i changed my oil. and added stp oil treatment as well as a new filter. now am i safe to drive with that oil or do i need to change within 500m
|
That's if you are adding seafoam to your oil. Putting it in the throttle body will clean out the fuel system. So no, you won't need an oil change.
|
okay
Can I eliminate the possibility of a spark coil being crazy craked. That would cause a big misfire and cause my engine to shake violently if I am correct. Wich its not doing that, its just puttin around

Do you have a service engine light? If so, have you had it checked for any misfire codes?
|
when you changed your plugs did you do the rotor and cap too?

just bout seafoam
Were gonna see how this goes. how long should i wait to drive? How long should I Rev the engine for? And ps. Ive already had to change my crankshaft position sensor! Dirty little thing. Nasty to change.
|
okay.
Absolutely. No smoke. Just more putting and spewing of liquid from the pipe And when I was pouring it into the tb, every drop. I'm talkin like very little. Not even a lid full that I poured it would almost shut down. So I'm beat

With your Jeep running, take your oil fill cap off and when you do that, does it want to stall, does it rev up or does it stay the same?
|
It stays the same mate
