Default Putting on the new timing set

My timing chain had jumped timing. To do this right, When I put the new timing set in, I leave #1 piston to tdc, I would then turn the cam sprocket until both valves are closed for the compression stroke on cylinder 1. This should line the marks up on the new set, also having the rotor pointing at #1 on the cap. This would make everything in time... correct?

Well, it makes sense to me, I'm just looking for back up here. It shouldn't be too hard, just my first time and I don't want to pull all this stuff apart again.

just aligning the dots on the sprockets will work fine.

it's already jumped timing though. Is the only time the two dots align, on tdc of the compression stroke? I am there now, and the crank gear is where it needs to be, but the cam gear is off 1/4 rotation. That is why I wanted to align everything as mentioned before.

aligning those dots will have the cam on compression stroke and the crank at TDC.

put the sprocket on the cam and rotate it into place
