Default procomp leaf springs

my XJ is going in the shop tomorrow morning for a 3" lift. I got the procomp 2.5" HD leaf packs. and now I just read in some forum that some dude ended up getting 4.5" of lift out of those... has anyone used these leaf springs? any ideas? cause i'm not sure if my 1" tc drop brackets are gonna do the trick on 4.5" lift...

If he got 4.5 inches of lift they were the wrong leaf springs. 4.5 is when u need to get a SYE (slip-yoke eliminator). I doubt a t-case drop would cut it. so he got 4.5 in the back, what did he get in the front? 3?

I got over 6" out of my RE 4.5" leaves when they were new. About a month later they settled to around 4.5-5".

you usually get by with 1 inch tc drop bracket on 4.5. 1 inch is actually an overcompensation for right about anything 3" to 6", i've heard. it is a good idea to get an SYE anyway though.

BUT, back on procomp springs. i appreciate the input.

i've got a 3 inch lift on my 97 and i put a one inch T-case drop because that was recommended and i kept eating up u-joints. i would think 4.5 is cutting it close. a buddy of mine has a 4.5 inch lift and he had a 1.5 inch t-case drop and it didnt cut it, he had to get a SYE...

If his rear was sagging to start with, which many are, then the lift might have been a couple of inches more than advertised. You have to remember, the factory height was with the rear about 1.5" higher than the front.
