Default problems and more problems

well i have a 93 4.0L high output jeep cherokee and my tranny was acting crazy not wanting to shirt right when it was cold then it would warm up and be fine.now everything sep for park is in 1st gear no reverse and i was just wondering should i just find a new tranny or could it be something else i am new to this jeep thing and never had this problem befor thanks for any info and this is a great site

I would be willing to bet that your TPS needs adjustment or replacement.

It is very common that when very cold the shift points will hang up and this is often associated with the TPS. Good luck on your search.

yeah i just hope i dont have to get a new tranny cause i'm a tight budget like every one in america is now days. but is this hard to adjust or replace ? and where is it located i knew i should have asked a min ago but didnt think nothing about it thanks

Go to the local parts store and pick up a Haynes/Chiltons manual for your XJ. It is about 15$ but trust me it will pay for itself over time.

But the TPS is on the throttle body and no it is not hard to adjust/replace.
