Problem starting
Hey guys,
I have a 1996 Cherokee, I just replaced the floor pans which took me a couple months. I had the cables off the battery while doing installation. Today I finished and the jeep started right up. I replaced the IAC valve, TPS, and MAP sensor because I was having idle issues and on this forum sounded like one of these sensors. I took it around the block and when acceleraating there was a poping noise and ran very rough. Parked and shut it off for a couple mins and it refuses to start again. Won't even crank. Battery is brand new and measuring good volts. Also have a "GEN" light on which shows alternator but would that cause the motor to not turn over at all? Any ideas?

i have a new starter and it sometime goes, click.
if you drive a jeep you gotta master starting it with a screwdriver. you jump the small ign wire to the batt hot cable.
that usually will pull in the solenoid and crank. leave the key on in park.
i never know if mine will click or crank.

Possible you didn't get those battery cables tight enough ?
Popping out rear its running rich, Popping out intake it's running lean.

I don't trust remans. Never know what was really replaced. I haven't changed a starter on an xj yet. What makes it difficult? Doesn't LOOK all that hard compared to others I have done on other vehicles. Something in the way?

cold cement floor, handle different 4 wrenches in bare hands.
im going to add a switch by batt to jump direct to starter ign wire to check so i dont need screwdriver.
