Problem with front end?
Maybe you guys can help. For some unknown reason there is a clanking noise coming from under my xj( i think its the u joint) how can i check this? Also whenever i hit the brakes slightly hard, there is a slicking noise coming from the front end. Any ideas?

You have get down there and grab stuff and move it to tell yourself if it is the u-joint. Grab the wheel once you have jacked up one side and see what moves while you try to shake the wheel at the 6/12 o'clock positions. reach for the draveshaft and see if there is any play. have someone turn the steering wheel while you watch. Nothing is supposed to have any movement within the components themselves.
