Problem finding auto shutdown switch

Ok here's the deal. I own a 96 jeep cherokee. The current problem that I am having is that my jeep will run for a little while and once it gets to hot, it automatically shuts off. It used to shut off once the temperature got to 210 and then 190. I got the overheating problem fixed, but now it shuts off at the lower temperatures after no more than 30 minutes running time. If I am running on the highway non-stop it runs fine, but once I get into traffic or come to a dead stop, it shuts down. It only does this in drive. When it's in reverse it is fine. I have replaced the auto shutdown relays in the fuse box, but the jeep still shuts off.

The check engine light has not come on. I have taken it to several mechanics and have had them put it on the computer scanners to try and see what the problem is. The only code that was retrieved was auto shutdown relay, but nobody can find the actual switch or location of sensor.

Someone please if you have any ideas on how I can fix this problem, feel free to reply or e-mail me at punkbug83@hotmail.com.

You checked the fuse box under the hood right? There are a few relays under there.

I'm posting in a 10 year old thread!! Hooray!

Crank position sensor for the win. Heats up and fails.

Good luck!
