PROBLEM with door locks and getting in...
Hi,
I'm sure someone else has had to have had this problem. Can't unlock the door and the lock is really sticky. My uncle took passenger door apart and sprayed it enough and got it working for a little while already not working. Is there a part I can order and replace? Every single door in my jeep the locks are very stiff and hard to move back and forth, it has power locks. The driver side is tough even with the key, and can't even be unlocked with the power locks. Any and all informed suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Lee |
doing some searching...Do i just replace the door latch itself? 50$ ok price for em?
thank you, lee |
Have you tried spraying the mechanisms with lithium grease? That's always worked for me.

What do you mean by spray the mechanism with lithium grease where all would i spray it into? My uncle used a whole bunch of stuff first just to get it unstuck, I don't know what he finished off with maybe some amsoil mp. The first stuff was some newer stuff like punk buster but different forget what its called. Once he got it freed up i think he might have used mp or something on it. and now already driver side has now failed. Inside door handle kinda flops around still opens it thought but locking and unlocking is getting very difficult anyone know where to get these things cheap?
Thank you, Lee |
Whenever I had one getting sticky I'd pull the door panel off and spray the handle mechanism and the latch assembly. I'd make sure it worked freely before reinstalling the panel.
No, I don't know of a place to get them, but there was a link/thread on here somewhere about a company that sold Jeep accessories like that fairly cheap. Dan |
Purchased the new door latches for both front doors. Replaced them today. Doors and locks work like brand new now. only cost me 100$ and well worth it. I'll give you guys a pic of the old ones later. Very rusty. I would have had to take em out to get em anywhere near ok anyways. If anyone wants the old ones i can give you a deal :) only a 167k on them. A little elbow grease they will go another 100k. Especially if your not in WI.
Thanks, lee |
Well I'm glad you've got it fixed.
