problem in column w/key release.

problem in column w/key release.
My 93 almost stuck me out in the woods today... went riding and cut it off to take a break, got back in and the key wouldnt turn forward.
Monkey with the shifter a few times and it finally unlocked and I was able to start it. Didnt cut it off till I got back home, tried it there 3 or 4 times and it worked fine.
Got back in it today and ran a errand, came back and it wouldnt come back to the off position.
Again wiggled shifter and got it to turn off.
it doesnt appear to be the tumbler but the lock coming from the shifter.
Anyone had this before or been in the column on one of these ?
