power window switches not working

Heres the deal. I have a 2000 grand cherokee and the drivers side window switches and lock/unlock units would work randomly, but when it didn't work nothing worked including the passenger windows. So I checked all the fuses and they were good, then I found that a wire had been severed where it runs through in the joint panel. Once I reconnected them then the lock/unlock unit and the side view mirror adjustment switch worked, but all four window switches still didn't work. Also none of the passenger switches work ( they would only work before when the driver's switches were working ). It's like no power is getting to the window switches but can get to the lock/unlock and mirror adjustment units. If anyone has a clue as to what might be going on the I would appreciate the advice. Thanks

the drivers side switch feed s all the other switches if it dont work none will try cleaning the connector at the switch see if that helps sounds like it might be loose or corroded

I'd check wiring going to driver side door. I, and many other 2000 XJ owners, had similar issues with power windows and locks and I believe it's mostly caused by bad switches on driver door, and/or severed wires inside boot located between driver door and chassis.

See post #9 at the following link...

In it, I point to tan and yellow leads. The tan lead is 12V supply for all four power windows and it is routed into the driver side door and comes back out as the yellow lead for the three passenger windows. If you stick a paper clip as described in my link, it essentially bypasses driver side lockout switch AND a possible wire break in the boot. I you wish, you can try this at your own risk.

Driver side and left-rear power lock issues on my xj were fixed by replacing respective latches (power lock motor).

I did check the wires running to the door and there was one which was severed. I fixed it led my locks and mirror adjustment to work, but not the windows. I want to try cleaning the connector, but can someone tell me where they are and whether or not I have to remove the door panel? I am an idiot when it comes to electronics. Thanks guys.
