This may be normal, but I have recently noticed that my '96 4.0 seems to have quite a noticeable surge of power just before it reaches 4K RPM at or near too WOT. It really is noticeable, almost like a turbo kicking in! It's almost as if the engine or fuel management is holding back until the engine reaches this speed. I live in a hilly area and if that power was available lower down it would be very useful!

Any one experienced the same or have an explanation?
