Default Power steering fade-away

Seems that whenever I really need the PS assist, it fades or seems to go completely away. I replaced the box last winter to cure a stuck spool valve issue. seems all worked fine until summer came and lots of weekend fun means towing and backing the trailers.

Is it time for a PS pump now, or is there something that I've overlooked?

Anyone? Surely someone has experience with power steering systems?

I would guess it was the pump. If your gear box is new there is really nothing else that would cause the problem.
