Question power door locks short out radio

i just bought a 95 cherokee sport. the previous owner told me that if i use the power door locks it would short out the radio. he had installed some covers over the switches to avoid this problem. this isn't a major issue for me, but if it is something simple to repair i would like to do it. have any of you had this happen? if so what caused it? what should i look for?

thanks

I would look for a stripped wire thats grounding out when ever the power locks go on.

thanks for the reply. that's what i was thinking. i am curious if there is a place that this is more likely to happen. i hate to start taking things apart blind. does anyone know of some common "rub points" for the pdl wiring?

A common place to look for frayed or broken wires is inside the rubber boot that runs between the drivers door and the door frame. If you find some damaged wires don't just join up these wires. The best way to fix them is to solder them and cover them with shrink tube. Hope this gives you something you can use ...

Also look under your front carpet both sides. There is a good size harness chrysler put right where we step and rest our feet, smart huh.
