Default Power brakes

My power brakes won't quit running. Like the abs pump won't quit. I pulled the fuse for now. Anybody know about this??

What year is your Cherokee? If it's a '91 or earlier it means you have the Bendix 9 ABS system. They are prone to failure and continuous running is the tell tale sign that the pump is going bad. Do your brakes feel hard even when the fuse is in and the pump is running? There is a lifetime warranty on the pump so you can take it to a dealer and possibly have it replaced free of charge. However because they're prone to failure it's recommended that you convert your brakes to a normal non-ABS system. I was plagued with this issue on my '91 and hesitated to convert the system but I finally did and it proved to be extremely easy and fairly cheap.

Thanks. Is the conversion parts available at any parts store or something more specific?

You'll need a brake booster which you can buy new or get from a junkyard from a non ABS Cherokee. You'll need a master cylinder which should either be new or remanufactured. You can keep your rear hard brake line and your front left brake line but your passenger brake line will need to be replaced or a new fitting flared onto it at the proportioning valve. When I did the conversion I grabbed the non ABS brake pedal and used that but people say you don't have to. It's worth doing a google search on the Bendix 9 system, hopefully that should help you along the way

It's a 91. 3.5" lift. 4 door. High output. 31's. W/ 1.5 spacers. Old man emu suspension all around.

If it's Bendix 9, there is a transferable lifetime warranty on both the pump, and the "actuator" (their word for master cylinder) The pump is not available, but if you can find one I gather Chrysler will pay for it.

This long rambling thread contains photos of the Bendix 9, conversion options, and some stuff dealing with the warranty on it.
