I am new....Is it possible to get a suspension lift of 2.5" or 3.5" and a body lift of 2"? Can anyone explain some pros and cons of each. I have been debating this for a while. I have a stock 1999 jeep cherokee and I want to lift it. I am not sure wheather to go with a big suspension lift or a body lift. OR if i could do a little bit of both that be great too. I want this to be a daily driver but also be able to take on some trails and rocks.

I don't think body lifts are possible on a xj. They are a unibody so the frame and body are all kinda one deal.

yea no way to do body lift on a cherokee

you can get a 2" budget boost for around $150 or so. i have a new unused teraflex 2" bb for sale. pm if interested

quite easy, I dont know much about lifts but I was able to install it in a few hours if you know what ur doing, I doubt it would take much more than an hour

yepo just put spacers in ur coils and replace ur shackles. its pretty simple

Where do you all buy your lift kits? I was looking at Rubicon because that seems to be what most people go for but there is also rough country that a lot of people have. What are some pros and cons of each and what are some other ones that I could go for? And at what point would i HAVE to get extended brake lines and such? I would like to avoid that and just stick with the stock things for now and then possibly upgrade later down the road if I want to turn my jeep into off road only.

Before you worry about who to buy from decide what you want, need and can afford.... Most people buy the lift they have from the company they did because it fit the first sentence the closest. Rubican Express and Old Man Emu are considered among the best, Rough Country and Rustys are also very popular. Nobody makes a perfect lift. The amount of lift you want will determine what you need. Lifts under 3.5" are pretty basic and can range from $200 to more than $1000. Above 3.5" you start getting more complex and have to consider driveline and steering modification in addition to the suspension components, price $200 to infinity. The tires you want to run and how you are going to use your XJ have alot to do with what TYPE, if Not Brand, of lift you should do.

I can afford whatever I need to afford...as in saving up for it. There is no need to rush it, I want to make sure I get what i want/need. I want to get a 3.5" supension lift. Would I have to get anything else done or could i just get that? I want to get 31-33" tires. I plan to shave the wheel well later on also. I want a daily driver but also a JEEP that i can go off roading, go to the beach, climb over rocks, go mudding and go fishing in. Would it be possible to get a 3.5" suspension lift then a budget boost of 2" in addition to that? If so would that cause the need to extra items to be needed?

A 2 inch lift can be done using spacers or slightly taller springs.

A 3.5 inch lift, in most cases....you will need to lower the t case or install and SYE to eliminate drivline vibrations and upgrade to 4.10 gears to run larger tires. On something like this it is best to go with a company that offers a system and includes everything you will need (Rubicon Express)

If your going to add a two 2 spacer to a 3.5 kit, I would just start looking into a long arm kit at that point, the control arm angles will be so steep on such short arms that the jeep will start to handle very poor.

A 3.5" kit will clear 31s easily. I would stick with just it. Once you cross the 4" range, there are a lot of other things that come into play, like steering, brake lines, SYE kit, yada, yada. 3.5" kit, and 31' tires on a sway bar disconnected XJ will blow your mind! Make sure you get a kit that has full leaf packs, and they are more expensive, but worth it. AAL kits are going to sag, soon. HTH!!
